Fall 2018 Annual Reflection Statement for the KWOF Scholarship Award

“It’s More Than Wood That We Manage For”

This scholarship award scenario will take use into the near future. Place yourself in the situation that you have graduated and have been in the field of forestry for approximately five years. You work primarily with landowners developing woodland management plans. But you do have those that grow woodlands for other uses.

It has come to your attention of a competition for woodland owners who are doing woodland activities beyond traditional forestry activities that promote harvesting and management for wood production initiatives.

You have one landowner that you work with that fits this competitive criteria – growing trees for uses beyond traditional timber production outcomes.

For this 2018 KWOF Reflection Statement, “It’s More Than Wood That We Manage For”, list those items (possibly in a bullet style response) that you would suggest to your woodland owner that he/she effectively does on their property that could be listed and expanded upon for the entering the competition.
